History: As a child, Ken always felt overshadowed by his older borther, Osamu. Osamu was an extremely intelligent young boy, as well as athletically gifted. As a result, Ken often felt as if his parents paid his brother more attention. After the original Digidestined's fight with Diaboromon, a Digivice appeared out of Osamu's computer, the older sibling ordering Ken not to touch it. With it, Ken traveled to the Digital World for the first time and was infected with the Dark Spore.

Upon his return to the real world, Osamu discovered that Ken had taken the Digivice and scolded him breaking his trust. Ken, in a moment of anger, wished that Osamu would disappear. Osamu was later struck by a car and killed. Ken blamed his wish and thus himself for this. Afterwards Ken received a strange email from an unknown person telling him use his Digivice to assuage his guilt. In doing so, Ken was transported to the Dark Ocean. Dipping his Digivice into its waters, it changed to a black D3 and Ken took on aspects of Osamu, becoming super-intelligent and extremely competent at anything sport or intellect related. He became captain of the Tamachi soccer team and received top grades in school. However, the Dark Spore continued to work, causing Ken to become apathetic and arrogant. He viewed everyone as lesser beings, beneath him.

Ken made his way back into the Digital World, and with unseen manipulations from Arukenimon became the Digimon Kaiser. He controlled the minds of Digimon through his Dark Rings, keeping them captive in intricate cages and forcing them to fight for his amusement in a gladatorial arena. Soon, he came into conflict with the Chosen Children, who sought to free the Digimon from his control. Although they could defeat the Digimon he controlled, they soon learned that in order to completely free them they would need to destroy the Digimon Kaiser's control spires.

He met the Chosen Children in the real world, at a soccer match, where Daisuke injured his ankle during a play. This proved to be the Kaiser's undoing, as during their next confrontation in the Digital world, he was recognized by the injury. After this, Ken retreated entirely into the Digital World, devoting himself entirely to his Kaiser identity. He created a massive Digimon, Kimeramon. Unfortuantely, it turned on him and the Chosen Children destroyed it with the help of Wormmon, who died in the process. Ken, outraged that he had been defeated, proclaimed that he would reset the Digital World. The others explained to him that Digimon and the Digital World were real, and that he had been causing much suffering. Upon realizing this, and that he had caused the death of Wormmon, arguably his best friend, he wandered off in a daze.

Ken slept in a coma-like state for many days, and when he awoke he no longer remembered his parents, suffering from amnesia. He returned to the Digital World, where he was reunited with a reborn Wormmon and his memory in Primary Village. Now he set about undoing the cruel work he had preformed. Although reluctant to accept the boy at first (except for Daisuke, who would become Ken's closest friend), the Chosen Children accepted him after he had proven that he was truly repentant for what he had doen and helped them defeat the manipulators, Arukenimon and Mummymon.

Things seemed to be going well, until Digimon appeared all over the world, wreaking havoc. The Chosen Children quickly managed to wrap things up. Shortly afterwards, Ken discovered that a man named Oikawa had been manipulating Ken and other children infected with the Dark Spore. Oikawa used the energy from Ken and the other children to open a portal to what he thought would be the Digital World. In fact it led to a strange, other dimension. There, the ghost of Myotismon, who had been defeated by the original Chosen Children years ago, revealed that he had been behind everything. Unfortunately for Myotismon, the Chosen Children, along with others all over the world, banded together and finally defeated him once and for all.

With the two worlds at peace, Ken has finally been able to attain some semblance of normalcy in his life. As normal as life gets with a Digimon partner, anyway.

Personality: Ken is a soft-spoken boy. He is extremely polite and tends to avoid confrontation when he can, but he is not weak. Ken has strong convictions and won’t hesitate to stand up those convictions if he needs to. Additionally, he won’t let himself be bullied or pushed around. He is normally friendly and as mentioned, polite, though he only truly opens up to his close friends. Ken cannot abide cruelty towards others in any form, and still carries a few lingering shreds of guilt about his brother's death, though he has done his best to put it behind him.

Extremely loyal and caring, Ken is always ready to defend his friends. Friendship means a lot to him, especially that of the other Chosen Children.
